Explore the vital intersection of climate and food issues and discuss our sector’s leadership role. Simon Fraser University’s dining program has eliminated all plastic and implemented a robust reusable program. They are committed to creating carbon-neutral events and have set ambitious goals of achieving 40% local procurement and 50% plant-based meals.

SFU Ancillary Services launched the Climate Action Lab, an innovative platform aimed at developing scalable climate solutions. The initiatives that emerge from our Climate Action Lab are similar to "small bets." These living labs nurture, test, and refine ideas, serving as practical experiments that demonstrate the feasibility of sustainable practices. They also aim to build the knowledge and capacity needed to scale these solutions.

These projects are designed to extend beyond the university setting, influencing policy and practices at city, municipal, and regional levels, and potentially making a global impact. By implementing and scaling these initiatives, SFU is leading the way in showing how universities can play a crucial role in advancing climate action from local communities to the global stage.
